Making lemonade out of lemons + a free pattern!
A couple of days ago, I found out that an Etsy shop based out of China had stolen a handful of my designs. It was one of the most infuriating and heartbreaking things I have had to deal with while running my small business. With the pandemic, things are rough enough, but then having that thrown at me just made things worse.
Most of you know that I love stitching hoops featuring characters and phrases from my favorite TV shows, movies, comics, games, etc. Although I do sell the originals of these pieces, I make it a practice to not sell any patterns with the characters themselves.
This company decided to take it upon themselves to sell the pattern, but the sad thing was, they did it without my knowledge or permission. I obviously would have said no. Luckily I was able to get the listings taken off of Etsy, but unfortunately they are still listed on two other Asian e-commerce sites. You win some you lose some I guess.
To help me feel a bit better about this whole situation, I decided to make my Totoro floral crown design into a pattern for you all to download. Best of all, it’s FREE! So, here’s a gift from me to you. If someone else is trying to make money off a pattern I never wanted to sell, you might as well just be able to get it for free, right? :)
